A routine has been established and refined over time to extract selected data and output it in a predefined format. The resulting flat file, which contains 1 record per transaction, is compressed.
The program run by BLM to extract lands status data for DNR is known as DNRDUMP. BLM's Division of Support Services, Branch of Information Technology Services, Application Services Section ( AK954), processes the data.
ADNR staff then ftp the compressed file to working space on their UNIX based network. The data is summarized by case to arrive at counts for the number of cases within each Meridian, Township, Range, Section MTRS. (Cases are state claims or sites and federal patented or selected claims.)
ADNR's data is extracted from the Land Administration System ( LAS) data warehouse to a flat file. Casetype, casestatus and land status is used to select and classify extracted data.
BLM and LAS data are processed by ADNR using SAS. Both BLM and DNR data are processed by MINFEFS.SAS. While distilling the BLM data to the section level some of the tables contained in BLMFMTS.SAS and LASFMTS.SAS are used.
The summary results create a dataset with one (1) observation per section. This dataset is related to the Section coverage in Arc/Info and used to reselect those sections containg any mining data. All attributes from the file are inserted into the coverage's polygon attribute table.
In Arc/Info (current version 7.1.1) the newly generated section level coverage is dissolved on all attributes in the coverage.
